- What is CERT?
- The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
- Who should apply for CERT?
- Persons over the age of 18 who are interested in receiving basic training and education as to better help their community during a disaster.
- When is CERT in-person training offered?
- CERT training will be made available to interested persons either through a hybrid (online and in-person) or in-person model. Please sign-up for CERT training and your name will be placed on an interest list.
- How do I sign up for the FREE Online CERT courses?
- You must register through your current city CERT program, available here: https://cert.glendaleca.gov/
- Please locate your neighborhood CERT program and register through the programs sign up page. This will help your CERT Coordinator know that you are working toward completion of the program and help to assist you with any questions.
- How long does it take to complete Online CERT?
- Approximately 12 hours online and 16 hours in person (practical/skill checklist)
- Can I use my mobile device to complete the Online CERT course?
- Mobile OS: iOS 12 (or newer) and Android 6.0 (or newer) are compatible.
- How do I prove completion of Online CERT training to my CERT Coordinator?
- You can view your verification of each individual module on the CSTI website or a print out of your certificate of completion at the end of your training. *it is recommended that you save and print a copy of your course completion. This will need to be uploaded to your online profile to access and join the practical portion. Following completion of the online program, participants will then coordinate with their local CERT program for 16 hours of hands-on practical training.
