Who We Are

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is a nationally supported, locally implemented initiative that teaches people how to better prepare themselves for hazards that may affect their communities. Since 1993, CERT trains the public in basic disaster response skills.

The Glendale Resident CERT program is where Glendale residents who are not part of an HOA CERT or Business CERT can sign up for training. By identifying yourself with Glendale Resident CERT we can connect you with people from your community so that you can train with them.

 CERT members receive hands-on training in:

  • Disaster preparedness and response skills
  • Reducing fire hazards in the home and workplace
  • Setting up medical treatment areas
  • Assisting emergency responders
  • Treatment and triage evaluation
  • Conducting light search and rescue
  • Organizing and managing a CERT Team

Hybrid CERT Training Includes: 

  • 12 hours of online learning at your convenience.
  • 16 hours of practical training scheduled after the online course is completed.
  • When both phases of training are finished, participants receive a Certificate of Completion for the CERT Training, issued by the Glendale Fire Department.
  • Participants will receive a CERT backpack, including personal protective equipment such as, helmet, vest, goggles, gloves, and flashlight.

What We Do

Before, during, and after disasters, CERT volunteer teams perform basic response activities, including checking in on neighbors, distributing information to the public, supporting emergency operation centers, and helping manage traffic and crowds. local CERT programs train and organize teams of volunteers to assist their families, neighbors, co-workers, and other community members during emergencies when professional responders may not be immediately available to provide assistance. CERT offers various opportunities with you in mind.
